More and more clients come to the studio saying something like: 'We have some ideas that we saw on Pinterest…', believing that's where we can draw inspiration for our project. And while we understand the intention, the truth is that if what you're looking for is to create a unique concept that truly connects with your brand and differentiates you in your field, I have to be clear: that's not the way to go.
The best inspiration is in the project itself
At Interiores Maluk, we don't believe in replicating what already exists, because we understand that every brand has a story, a purpose, an ideal client, and an essence that makes it unique. And that's precisely where the design concept should be born. Not from a pretty image, but from the soul of the project.
Every time we start designing, we ask ourselves questions that have nothing to do with colors or styles:
– What makes this business different?
– What does this brand seek to convey?
– How do we want the customer to feel when they come in?
– What emotions do we want to awaken?
From these responses, we build our own universe. One that isn't on Pinterest or in any artificial intelligence database. One that can only emerge when we take the time to connect with the project from within.
Design that connects, not imitates
Today, more than ever, design focuses on people. On how they feel, how they experience spaces, how they become part of a community. And today's consumer isn't just looking for a product or service; they're looking for an experience that connects them.
If he just wanted to shop, he'd do it online from home. But no. He chooses to go out, walk, go into a store, sit in a restaurant. Why? Because he's looking to experience something different. Something that excites him, that takes him away from his everyday life, that he can't find anywhere else.
And you can't find that on a Pinterest site.
You find it in an authentic space that conveys a clear identity and generates an emotional experience. One that not only looks good, but feels good.

Telling a story through design
When we use the project itself as a source of inspiration, the result is a design with soul. A design that not only supports the business's proposition, but also enhances it. It transforms the space into a stage where every corner tells a part of the brand's story.
And in an increasingly competitive market, that's the real difference.
Because it's no longer enough for a location to be "pretty." It has to be relevant. It has to clearly reflect who you are as a brand, and at the same time, make your ideal customer feel part of that universe.

Design with purpose, not decoration with style
If you're about to start a new project, my biggest piece of advice is this: don't start with an inspiration board. Start with you. With your story. With your brand. With your values. With your client.
And then let the design tell that story.
That's the way to create unique concepts.
That's the way to differentiate your business.
That's how you design with purpose.
Because we don't design to replicate what already exists, we design to create what hasn't yet been told.
